Program Information
2005 saw the signing of the Joint Communiqué on Educational Cooperation by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Education, University and Research of Italy. In 2006, the cooperating framework of the Italian-Chinese University Projects agreement brought about the establishment of the Sino-Italian Campus of Tongji University (TJSIC). In the same year, two undergraduate double-degree programs in Tongji University with Polytechnic University of Milan and Polytechnic University of Turin have been launched by TJSIC, known as POLITONG programs. In September, the then Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi attended the POLITONG opening ceremony. In 2007, In 2007, Tongji and University of Bologna signed a cooperation agreement to launch the double-degree program in Automation, known as the ALMATONG project. POLITONG and ALMATONG are highly characteristic Sino-Italian cooperative programs in Tongji University and are brand projects for higher education cooperation between Chinese and Italian governments.
