On 27 November 2020, “Memphis in Shanghai” Exhibition was launched at the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University, displaying representative furniture, lamps and decorative objects made of various materials from the Memphis School. The exhibition was inaugurated by Fang Shouen, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University, Michele Cecchi, Consul General of the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, Roberto Pagani, Head of the Foreign Affairs Office, Director of the Party Committee's Academic and Research Department, Chief of the Architectural Research Institute (Group) Ltd., and Aldo Cibic, one of the founding members of Memphis, Italian design master.
The exhibition was organized by Tongji University, hosted by Cibic Workshop and Memphis Srl, and co-organized by TJSIC and the College of Design and Innovation. Chinese and foreign visitors, students and faculty of Tongji University attended the inauguration ceremony.
The exhibition was part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and China at Tongji University and was on display from 27 November to 25 December.
