On April 18th, Mr. Michele Bonino, Vice-Rector for Relations with China at the Polytechnic University of Turin (the Politecnico di Torino), Italy, visited Tongji University to promote strategic cooperation between the two universities. Vice President LOU Yongqi met with Mr. Bonino and his delegation. People from Tongji's International Office, Infrastructure Department, College of Design and Innovation, College of Environmental Science and Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, and Sino-Italian Campus attended the meeting.

Both sides exchanged ideas on the plan of establishing a Sino-Italian institute by Tongji University and Turin Polytechnic University, cultivating innovative talents, and deepening Sino-Italian research cooperation. A consensus was reached on jointly offering a doctoral dual degree program and exploring the possibility of expanding cooperation between the two universities in transportation and machinery.

After the meeting, LOU Yongqi showed the delegation around the campus.

Tongji University has collaborated with the Polytechnic University of Turin in teaching and research since 2006, covering such disciplines as machinery, telecommunications, design, automotive, intellectual property, civil engineering, architecture, and the environment.
