On June 5th, the " Polimi Day at Tongji" series of events, jointly hosted by Tongji University and Politecnico di Milano held on the Tongji campus. Prof. Li Xiangning, Vice President of Tongji University, met with a delegation led by Prof. Daniele Rocchi, Vice Rector of Politecnico di Milano.

During the event, a series of activities were held, including an information session on the China-Italy joint PhD double degree program, a Sino-Italian joint academic symposium, exchanges on international scientific research cooperation projects, and faculty collaboration meetings with nearly 60 faculty and students from both universities participated. Prof. Daniele Rocchi summarized the cooperation achievements between the two universities over the past year and more, and outlined visions for future education and research collaboration. The head of Tongji University's Director of Foreign Affairs Office expressed that joint talent cultivation and professor exchanges between the two universities would lead to more substantive cooperation. Subsequently, professors of the Department of Energy at Politecnico di Milano and the School of Computer Science and Technology at Tongji University delivered their respective research presentations. Representatives from Tongji University's Graduate School, School of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the joint doctoral program coordinator at Politecnico di Milano discussed the double degree application status, procedures, and experiences.

During their visit, the Politecnico di Milano delegation also held special cooperation seminars with faculty teams from School of Computer Science and Technology, School of Electronics and Information Engineering, and School of Civil Engineering of Tongji University.

Politecnico di Milano is one of Tongji University's most important strategic partners. The two universities launched a joint doctoral training program in 2024 and have further strengthened cooperation between their professors. To date, nearly 40 faculty matchmaking meetings have been organized, involving more than 40 teachers from 9 schools at Tongji, and over 20 doctoral students have applied for the joint double degree program. The " Polimi Day at Tongji" is an annual flagship event of the two universities, aiming to build an exchange platform and promote in-depth cooperation in cutting-edge technological fields.
